Show 159-day Cottontail rabbit hunting season conies to end Utah's 1971-72 cottontail rabbit hunting season .ended March 1, 1972. The 159-day season is the longest hunting season allowed for game. Figures available from the 1970-71 season indicated that 24,486 hunters spent 103,725 hunter days in pursuit of cottontail cot-tontail rabbits. This makes the cottontail the second most sought after upland game species. The ring-necked pheasant phea-sant is number one in popularity, popu-larity, and mourning doves dropped to third. Jackrabbit hunters are cautioned cau-tioned to be sure of their targets tar-gets during spring hunts. Cottontails Cot-tontails are occasionally mistaken mis-taken for young jackrabbits which abound during the spring spr-ing and early summer. |
