The above three men are pictured after they had received honorary degrees from the Parowan Chapter of Future Fu-ture Farmers of America. They were awarded by the chapter as a reward for services these men have given giv-en to the chapter in various way in past years. They are Claude Orton, Principal Richard Dotson and Lester Les-ter Williamson, They were awarded at the annual Parent - Son Banquet on Thursday evening I FFA Parent and Son banquet held Thursday evening The annual Future Farmers Farm-ers of America Parent and son banquet of the Parowan High School was held on Thursday night in the Parowan Elementary Elemen-tary School general purpose room and lunch room. Presiding over the event was Joe Williamson, president presi-dent of the chapter, with assistance as-sistance from other officers. At the opening ceremonies the members of the chapter led their mothers up to the front and pinned a carnation on each. The prayer was offered of-fered by Danny Hulet, and Joe gave the welcoming address. .Then at Williamson's orders, or-ders, three officer came to the audience and led three of the men present to the front to confer honorary FFE degrees on them for assistance to the club. They were Lester Williamson, Wil-liamson, Principal Richard Dotson and Claude Orton. All received honorary badges of the organization. Dinner was then served in the lunchroom, featuring chicken chic-ken and the trimmings, prepared pre-pared by the school lunch room staff, assisted by high school girls. Williamson then introduced the guests; Ken Bentley, secretary, secre-tary, gave the report for the year. Vice president Wayne Decker reported on the progress pro-gress of Agriculture over the nation. Featured speakers included in-cluded Jim Brown, state FFA vice president, and Richard Stowell, state sentinal. During Dur-ing the program the Walunas family turned in a fine per-mance. per-mance. Ed on the banjo and Anna at the piano, and the way they rendered the "12th Street Rag" and "California Here I Come", had those present pres-ent on the edge of their seats. |
