Show Cedar-Beaver Students win Elks worthy student awards to "ifapi WW ' EVAN VICKERS City and Evan Vickers, of Beaver as first place girl and boy winners. . Also receiving awards were Lani Twitchell of Cedar City, Verona Hunter of Fillmore, ioris Hollingshead of Beaver, and John R. Carter of Cedar City. The first place winners will jach receive a $50 bond with all other winners receiving $25 bonds. The entries of San-.ii San-.ii and Evan will be forwarded to the state competition. According to Dr. Wesley P. Larsen, chairman of the secho-larship secho-larship committee, the applicants appli-cants were judged on the basis bas-is of scholarship, citizenship, personality, leadership, perse-erance, perse-erance, resourcefulness, patriotism, pa-triotism, , general worthiness, and financial need. Sandi Amed, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Amend, is an honor student at Southern Utah State College. A graduate gradu-ate of Cedar High School, San. di plans to culminate her education ed-ucation as a Doctor of Medicine. Medi-cine. Evan Vickers, son of (Mr. and Mrs. Evan Vickers, actively participates in sports as well as academics at Beaver High School. He has received letters in both basketball and golf. He has presently been accepted accept-ed at the University of Utah College of Pharmacy. Lani Twitchell, daughter of Margery M. Twitchell, Is involved in-volved in school activities, serving as Ad Lib editor, chairman chair-man of floats, and Art Guild president. In addition to this Lani has maintained a 4.0 grade point average throughout through-out high school. Y- U .1 S . . '. S'j s SANDI AMEND Recently announced winners of the Elk's "Most Valuable Student" Scholarship offer included in-cluded Sandi Amend, of Cedar Verona Hunter, daughter of Mrs. Joseph Hunter, is a senior at Millard High School. A member of the Society of Outstanding Out-standing Ameri can High School Students, Verona is also involved in school functions, func-tions, including music and yearbook. Doris Hollingshead, daughter daught-er of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Hollingshead, is an honor student stu-dent at Beaver High School. She also serves as paper editor, dance chairman, and Model UN member. j John Russell Carter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Neal Carter, is presently a student at Cedar High School. With anticipation of entering a pre-med program next year, John has maintained maintain-ed high scholastic standing during high school. |
