Music Students Rated High At Spring Festival Last week two buses of Cedar Ce-dar High Students partlcipat-ed partlcipat-ed in the Music Festival for small groups held at Fillmore. Included were representatives from the vocal, wind instrument, instru-ment, and string departments of the high school. Also, several piano students of various teachers throughout through-out the city were invited to attend and participate. The Cedar High School music mus-ic department came away with more superior ratings than ever before in its history, and this year was the only school to participate with all ' superior or excellent ratings. I First to receive a superior was Mike Leavitt on a French horn solo, and the rest of the day followed the pattern. The entire wind instrument department de-partment received superior ratings. This included Maureen Maur-een Burgess, flute solo; Gaye Stucki, flute solo; these two in a flute duet, and these in a flute trio with Susan Brazier, Braz-ier, all receiving superior ratings. rat-ings. Lynn Jenson then received re-ceived a superior rating with a clarinet solo. In the string department, two of the following soloists received superior ratings: Melissa Me-lissa Thorley, Elizabeth Corry, Artis Petty, and Cynthia Thor. ley. The string ensemble, under un-der the direction of William H. Silvester received a superior super-ior rating and was the delight of the day, according to the judge, Miss Lorraine Bowman. Only one duet participated, Karla Terry and Kathy Roberts Ro-berts receiving a I rating, and a trio composed of Carol Higbee, Hig-bee, Judy Hargravc and Susan Su-san Seegmiller also received I ratings as did two quartets. The quartets consisted of first, Louise Seegmiller; Kendall enson, Denise Terry and Lee Peterson, and second, James Froyd, Larry Brough, Jim Shumate and Chris Church.
