Show Former Resident, Dies in California Funeral services were conducted con-ducted in the Cedar Fourth Ward Chapel Saturday, April 6, for Mrs. Vilo Russell Short, 61, who died of a heart attack at Circle City Hospital at Corona, Cor-ona, California on Wednesday, April 3. Burial was in the Springdale cemetery. ' Mrs. Short was born In I Springdale on January 27, 1907, a daughter of Harold Russell and Mary Emily Gif-f Gif-f ord Russell. She married Geo. W. Short on Dec. 26, 1925, at Ely, Nev., who died on June 8, 1947. Mrs. Short is survived by two sons, G. Robert and La-Var La-Var Russell Short; a daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Carol (Mary) Brown, and six grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Verl Russell, Atlanta, Ga., and Hal Russell, Jr., Salt Lake City; Ci-ty; two sisters, Mrs. June E. (Nalda Moody of Topinga, Calif., and Mrs. Calvin J. (Emily) Shipp, Pacific Palisades, Palis-ades, Calif. The funeral services were conducted by Bishop Devon Reeves. Speaker was B. Glen Kenney, and a poem was read by Mrs. Rhea Wakeling. Invocation was by Horace Hall, benediction by LaNoir Jones, and dedication of the grave by LaVar Short. Prayer at the mortuary was by Rud- g.sr Beatty. Musical proggram Included two numbers, "The Lord Is My Shepherd" and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," by a vo- cal quartet composed of Zel- 1 da Smith, Shirley Stratton, Douglas Manning and Her- ( schell Neeley, accompanied by Jackie Logdon. and a vocal solo, "Oh, My Father" by Her-schell Her-schell Neeley. Prelude and postlude music was by Margaret Mar-garet Webster. 1 |
