STERLING McMURRIN Dr. Sterling McMurrin, dean of the Graduate School, University Uni-versity of Utah, and former U. S. Commissioner of Edu- . cation under President John F. Kennedy, will be guest speaker at a special meeting Thursday, April 11 at 8 p. m. j in the College of Southern Utah Music Center. Dr. McMurrin Mc-Murrin will speak on "Plausible "Plaus-ible Educational Reforms in Utah." Dr. McMurrin received his doctorate from the University of Southern California and is a visiting scholar at Columbia Colum-bia University and Union The- ological Seminary and a Ford Fellow in Philosophy at Princeton University. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. He has served in numerous academic positions including provost, academic vice president, presi-dent, and dean of the College of Letters and Science at the U of U. His governmental assignments as-signments include National Commission for UNESCO, Board of Foreign Scholarships National Culture Center Board, Consultant to the Office of Science and Technology, and others. Dr. McMurrin's Cedar City appearance is a highlight in a series of professional development devel-opment programs sponsored by the CSU Faculty Association, Associa-tion, it was announced by Professor Pro-fessor Thomas A. Leek, president presi-dent of the association. All CSU faculty and staff members and partners have been invited to attend the event. Special invitations have also been sent to all educators educat-ors on all levels of education in the area. The public is also al-so invited to attend, Prof. Leek said. |
