V, I W 'a rt-- rifii''4' iiit----i mth 1frMJ ; DEBORAH THORNTON A newspaper clipping given giv-en to us during the week by Mrs. Morrill Thornton tells us that the Thornton's granddaughter, grand-daughter, Deborah Thornton of Kanab, had been chosen chos-en as meet champion at the Region Eight Speech and Drama Dra-ma Festival held at Dixie Junior Jun-ior College a week ago. Miss Thornton is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Thorn-ton, Thorn-ton, who are former residents of Parowan. Clint is manager for Petrolane Gas Co. in the Kane County area. i The winning ! Miss Thornton, who was representing rep-resenting the Kanab High school at the meet was awarded award-ed a full-tuition scholarship to the Dixie College. Alternate Alter-nate was Charles Garfield; soil the Mrs. Delia Garfield and the late Glen Garfield of Mid-valley. Mid-valley. The college announced that approximately 150 students from Cedar City, Dixie, Kanab, Ka-nab, Hurricane, Beaver, and Millard high school participated partici-pated in the event. |
