BIRD Posthumus Award Presented For Milford Soldier A 21 -year old Army Corporal was posthumously presented with the Bronze Star and Purple Pur-ple Heart Saturday in ceremonies cere-monies at Fort Douglas, Utah. Accepting the awards for Corporal Kim S. Bird were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd F. Bird of Milford. Corporal Bird was cited for bravery in Vietnam. He was killed in action Dec. 14, 1966 while on a combat operation. The citation for the Bronze Star said Corporal Bird distinguished dis-tinguished himself by outstanding out-standing meritorious service in connection with ground operations op-erations against a hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam. Viet-nam. Presenting the award was Major William J. Bishop, Salt Lake City, subsector Commander, Com-mander, X Corps, Fort Douglas, Utah for the Utah Army Reserve. Re-serve. Corporal Bird is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd E. Bird, Milford, Utah; a sister Shelly Bird, Mountain Vitw, Calif., and brothers Barry Bar-ry F. Bird, Glendale, Calif., Er-rol Er-rol F. Bird, San Pablo, Calif., Rick A. Bird and K. Todd Bird, Milford. |
