Show Eastern Star Order Honor Worthy Grand Matron at Fete Cedar Chapter No. 20, Order of Eastern Star, met at the Masonic Mason-ic Temple in special session, Friday Fri-day evening, May 27, for the official visitation of the worthy grand matron, worthy grand patron pa-tron and associate grand officers of the Grand Chapter, Order of Eastern Star of Utah. Chapter opener' in regular form with Mrs. Margaret Stye, worthy matron and Harry Freeman, Free-man, worthy patron, presiding. The worthy matron and patron extended a cordial welcome to the Worthy Grand Matron Mrs. Mrs. Bernice J. Willie, worthy grand matron, and Joseph Savage, Sav-age, worthy grand patron, both of Salt Lake City. The associate grand officers were welcomed by Wanda Riggle, grand conductress, conduct-ress, and- -Blanche- Gustafson, grand Adah, responded with appropriate ap-propriate remarks. Past grand matrons Margaret C. Rohn, Fava K. Parker, and past grand patrons W. J. Ross and Harvey Riggle were introduced intro-duced by Conductress EtheJ Smith and welcomed by Mrs. Rohn. The response was given by Harvey Riggle. Past grand .natron Florence Ray and pasi worthy patron, Walter Ray or -ne Nevada Grand Chapter, were introduced and welcomed by the Grand reepresentatives, presid-Grand presid-Grand representatives, presiding presid-ing matrons and patrons, and first time visitors were introduced intro-duced and welcomed by Evelyn La Frentz and Margaret Slye, respectively. re-spectively. An appropriate response re-sponse was given by Audra Schottenhamel, grand secretary. At the conclusion of the intra-ductions intra-ductions an impressive ceremony, centered around a "Pot of Gold at the End of the Rainbow" was presented by the officers of the Grand Chapter. Background music mu-sic during the ceremony was furnished fur-nished by Lelah Wilson, organist. organ-ist. Mrs. Willie's message to the chapter was based on the significance signi-ficance of the jewel colors used by the Eastern Star at its various vari-ous stations. In her travels throughout the State she has give one of the offices an intricately intri-cately designed necklace engraved engrav-ed with the Eastern Star emblem. The station of Ruth was selected for the evening and Susan Proctor Proc-tor was presented with the yellow yel-low ray of Ruth acknowledging the color of her station. Mr.. Savage Sav-age chose "Thoughts on Initiation" Initia-tion" as his subject Both messages mes-sages were inspiring and well received. At their conclusion, gifts were presented by Jennie Peters and Gustin Gooding, compliments of Cedar Chapter. Fava K. Parker, general grand chapter committee commit-tee member, spoke on the Knights Templer Eye Foundation and its many successful accomplishments accomp-lishments since its beginning ten years ago. Eastern Star chapters throughout through-out Utah, Nevada and California were well represented at the meeting. A buffet supper was served to members and guests at the conclusion con-clusion of the meeting by Nora Lyman, chairman, assisted by Virgie Calahan, Frances Simpson Simp-son and Mary Lou Shelley of St. George. Preceding the meeting, a dinner din-ner was served at Sullivan's Cafe. Decorations for the dining tables. Chapter room, and refreshment re-freshment tables were carried out in the theme of "The Key to Happiness", under the supervision supervis-ion of Jennie Peters and her committee. |
