Show Parowan Lions Club Preparing For First Annual Quarter Horse Show The Parowan Lions Club is now making preparations for its first annual Quarter Horse Show, which has been scheduled here on Friday and Saturday, June 17 and 18 at the city race track and rodeo arena. The Lions Club members are planning two full days of riding and showmanship, showman-ship, according to Dan Robison, who is acting as general chairman chair-man for the event. Working with Mr. Robison on preparations for the show are Ramon Bentley, secretary; Don Applegate, racing .chairman; Fred Dalton, ring steward; Ted Burton, advertising and promotion, promo-tion, and Clayton Tullis, starter. The show will begin Friday at 9 a. m. with a variety of events scheduled for the entire day and running into the evening, and resume again at 10 a. m. on Saturday for another full day's program. Some of the events scheduled include cutting horse competition, roping and bulldog- ging, racing and open events for both youthful and older contestants. contest-ants. Events such as barrel racing rac-ing and pole bending will also be staged. Mr. Robison states that the quarter horse competition will be judged by Jack Rubel of Pres-cott, Pres-cott, Ariz., who is an approved judge of the American Quarter Horse Association. He also states that the show will be operated under the approval of the American, Ameri-can, the International and the Utah Quarter Horse Associations and the Ida-Ute Cutting Horse Association. As things look at this time, some 150 fine quarter horses will be drawn to Parowan for this event and the Lions Club hope' to make the show so outstanding that it will become an annual project to be sponsored by the club. The club extends an invi-1 tation to all residents of the area to attend one or both days of the entertaining competition. I |
