Show Husband of Former Cedar Woman To Do Research Work at Yale University i : ' i l 7 A v7 , . . -.. .. i i jt ' rv i 1 , i Dr. and Mrs. Gary D. Watt and children, Kinjberley and Richard Rich-ard Kent, who have been visiting visit-ing for the past several days with the Arthur C. Brown, Rodney Rod-ney A. Brown and Gaylen L. Brown families, are leaving this week for New Haven, Conn., where Gary will do research at Vale University, on the chemistry chemis-try of the thyroid gland, under the direction of the renowned Dr. Julicn Sturtivant. At the annual chemistry department de-partment awards banquet, held at Brigham Young University recently, re-cently, Gary was named outstanding out-standing graduate student of the chemistry department. He was given the reference book of his choice of the value of $25.00. At this same banquet, Marilyn received re-ceived her "Ph T" degree (putting (put-ting hubby through). Gary was one of the nine students stu-dents who were awarded their Ph.D. degrees at the recent BYU Com menceme n t con voca t i on . Marilyn, who is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur C. Brown of Cedar City, won her B. A. degree de-gree in English literature three years ago. Gary has given papers at meetings meet-ings sponsored by the American Chemical Society at a number of places, including Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Corvallis, Ore. He has had several of his articles arti-cles published in the Journal of Inorganic Chemistry. Both Gary and Merilyn have been active in church work. Both served as secretaries and later as counselors in the MIA. For more than a year now, Marilyn has served as activity counselor in the Relief Society of the BYU 37th Ward. Gary is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Watt, Jr of Wellington, Utah. He graduated from Carbon High School and attended College Col-lege of Eastern Utah. In 1962 he received his B. S. degree from th BYU. The young family expects to be in New Haven for a year and a half to two years. TO DO RESEARCH. Dr. Gary D.
