Show Telephone Company Sponsors More Science Films The Bell Telephone System has entered into a contract with Warner Brothers to have them produce a second series of four one-hour science color films for use on television according to Dean Williams, local manager of the Mountain States Tele, phone Company. "Our Mr. Sun." the Initial picture pic-ture of the first series of four programs to be televised was shown In November 1956. Since that time over 100,000 people In Utah have seen the film in color during private showings in schools, churches, clubs, etc. One hundred and sixty-five in Cedar City have enjoyed it. The second sec-ond film of the Bell System science sci-ence series was "Hemo The Magnificent," Mag-nificent," a story of blood and the circulatory system. This has been equally as popular as the scientific story of the sun. Mr. Williams said. "No other films made available through the telephone company have been, in such great demand for reshowings. Two more pictures in the first series of four produced pro-duced by Frank Capra are now being completed for telecasting during the 1957-58 season. The production of the second series of Bell System science films will be under the direct supervision of Jack Warner, Jr. Mr. Warner said, "Nothing we have ever done before in the public pub-lic Interest stimulates me so much as this exciting chal. lenge." Williams explained, the science sci-ence series Is a new concept in television entertainment. It combines com-bines entertainment and Information Infor-mation for us long beyond the brief hours on the air. In producing pro-ducing this special series, the Bell System Is motivated by its own deep interest In science, as well as Its realization of the great Importance of science In modern life. The series is designed de-signed to promote a broader knowledge of what science Is and how scientists go about their work. Science series programs are made under the general supervision super-vision of a scientific advisory board of eminent American scientists. sci-entists.
