Show Ianthus Wright Named to Advisory Board Ianthus Wright, superintendent superintend-ent of Iron County schools, has been appointed by Governor George D. Clyde as one of a seven-member advisory comm'ttee on driver education. The nt'.v committee will advise the State Board of Education on policies relative to the accelerated drlv er education program In the high schools approved by the 1957 legislature. The other six members of the advisory commltee are: Charles C. Freed, vice president presi-dent of the Utah Safety Council and vice president of the National Na-tional Inter-Industry Highway Safety Organization; William B. Smart, editor of the editorial page, Deseret News; Herbert F. Kretchman, editorial writer, Salt Lake Tribune;- Owen Slaugh, Logan, head of the automotive department Utah State University; Univer-sity; Louis W. Chrlstensen, sup-erlntendent sup-erlntendent of Morgan County schools, and Mrs. Arvll Stark, safety chairman. Utah Council of Parents and Teachers. They are appointed for two-year two-year terms, beginning July 1. The will receive no pay other than $15 a day for actual time spent In meetings, plus actual expenses. Utah's new driver training pro-gram pro-gram will be financed in part from the $1 per motor vehicle additional fee to be collected by the tar commission beginning Jan. 1, 1958. It is estimated that this will raise $350,000 a year towards the cost of providing driving training train-ing for approximately 12.000 eligible eli-gible high school students. |
