Show Second Half Openers In Pony League Favor Power, Parks Southern Utah Power and Utah Parks took the initial lead In the second half of play in the Cedar City Pony League baseball. Both have scored wins over Utah Con struction and Arden Dairy. A second half leader will be determined Friday evening when the two teams meet with the victor vic-tor to take over the league lead. Cal Hair on the mound for Southern Utah Power opened the second half play with the first no-hit game of the season in the Pony League. Hair pitched his no-hitter against Utah Construction Construc-tion and the Power won by a 3 to 1 score. Lory Mlsel on the mound for UC allowed only three hits in his losing effort. Power pushed over a single run In the first Inning on two hits. Doug McKnight doubled to lead off the inning and Kent Smith singled to push in the first score. In the second frame a hit by Kruger pushed in two runs, Bobby Hall and Craig Ash-down, Ash-down, after they had walked, to complete the scoring. Monday evening Power picked! up its second win of the half with an 8 to 6 win over Arden.! The Kilowatt Kids were forced! to come from behind with four hits and four runs in the sixth frame to take the win. Smith was the winning pitcher for Power and Steve Cahoon was the loser. Kent Smith, Cal Hair and Butch Thompson each picked up two hits in the game to pace the Power crew to the win. A double by Thompson and singles by Munford, Hall and Smith were; instrumental In the four runs in the sixth Inning. Utah Parks, first half winners, picked up the first win of the second half with a 14 to 2 win over Arden Friday evening. Arden. Ar-den. with only nine men on Its bench for the evening, was plagued with 11 errors in the six inning game. Sam Chamberlain was on the mound and was credited with the win although Leigh Rosen-! berg came onto the mound in the sixth and final Inning. Ros-' enberg led all hitters for the eve-1 nlng with four hits in as manyj trips to the plate' Including a three-run homer in the sixth in-1 ning his first of the season. j 1 Parks picked up its second win Tuesday evening with a 6 to 2 win over UC. Rosenberg was the winning pitcher and Gail Rob- j erts the loser. Each allowed four hits. Rosenberg picked up a to-' tal of 17 strikeouts in the game.1 Parks had a total of three extra base hits including a two-run homer by Sam Chamberlain in the third inning. I Construction scored both of its; runs In the fourth inning on three hits.
