Show Cedar City to Host Triple Tourney During Baseball Season Play-offs Three baseball tournaments have been scheduled for Cedar City early In August, and unless un-less some change of schedule takes place In the next two weeks Cedar City will be a baseball base-ball meeca during the first two week ends of August. The District Tony League tour-nament tour-nament will definitely be held in Cedar City on Aug. 8, 9 and 10, and may extend to the fourth day, starting on Aug. 7 and continue con-tinue through the 10th. Teams from the Intermourtaln states are eligible to participate In the tournament, which would mean that eight teams may be play Ing here on the four days mentioned. men-tioned. At least six teams are expected to participate, and since the tournament will be double elimination affair, at least three days will be required for the affair. A Utah Little League play-off will be held In Cedar City on the week end of Aug. 3, and following fol-lowing this It is expected that a three-state tournament will be held here the same week end as the Pony League tournament It Is not known how many teams will participate in the state tournament as yet, but it is expected that only two or three will be entered, since most of the northern Utah teams are playing with the Salt Lake Trlb-lUne Trlb-lUne Western Baseball league. In the trl-state tournament the champions of Utah, Nevada and Colorado will compete on .a sin. gle elimination basis. The winner win-ner with gain a place In the Regional Re-gional tournament at Phoenix, Ariz., on Aug. 12 and 13. The winner at Phoenix will then enter en-ter a sectional meet at San Francisco Fran-cisco and the winner at the Call, fornla city will go directly to the Little League World Series at Willlamsport, Pa. |
