Show Zion Photo Cops Top Honors Jit Photo Confab Photographer Gains Honors for Valuable Service Homer Jones, owner and operator oper-ator of Zion Photo in Cedar City walked off with the lions share of honors at the recently completed com-pleted convention of the Inter-mountain Inter-mountain Professional Photographers Photo-graphers Assot'latior flt Salt Lake City. Most highly coveted of the prir.es and awards won by Zion Photo at the exhibits was the one presented to Mr. Jones by the Professional Photographers' Association of America for outstanding out-standing service rendered in the profession and for the greatest contribution to the profession during the past year. A portrait of popular Billy Rice, Cedar City Indian, also brought wide acclaim and was responsible respon-sible for two major awards won by Mr. Jones. The portrait won first place in the Special Exhibits Exhib-its section as the most outstanding outstand-ing portrait in the exhibit which includes the complete presentation presenta-tion of portrait, finishing, framing fram-ing and exhibiting. The portrait also won the Master's Trophy In which it was selected by judges as the outstanding entry in the entire exhibit in all fields including portrait, commercial, Industrial and special entries. The master's trophy was won last year by Ralph Clark in the commerial division. This trophy is revolving and must be won three times to become the permanent per-manent possession of any individual. indivi-dual. Six of the seven photographs entered in the exhibit by Zion Photo won "Print of Distinction" honors. A portrait of Austin Dalley, along with the portrait of Billy-Rice Billy-Rice will also be exhibited in the national competition, Mr. Jones stated. Betty Carlton, a member of the Zion Photo staff,' also won honors when her hand painting of Miss Susan Hunter of Cedar City captured cap-tured third place in that division of competition. Mr. Jones paid tribute, following follow-ing the high recognition, to his entire staff, consisting of Mrs. Jones, Betty Canston, Boyd Remington Rem-ington and Flora Munford. ' Each plays an important part in the finished productions and smooth operation of the entire business," he said, "and as a result each must share in the honors." |
