Show Colleges Draw Up Spriilg Baseball Schedule Four schools in the Intermountain Intermoun-tain Collegiate Athletic Conference Confer-ence will participate in baseball this spring including College of Southern Utah, Dixie Col logo. Snow College and Carbon, according ac-cording to Coach Cleo Petty at C S U. An original schedule has been altered to eliminate expenses. Coach Petty said with the C S U Broncos tentatively scheduled to open on the home field against Snow on Thursday, April 18. Originally Ori-ginally the Broncos were to open the season on Friday, April 12. A number of double headers will be played to eliminate home and home games, which necessitate necessi-tate considerable expense, Petty said. Snow is tentatively w.heduled to play in Cedar City on the 18th and move to St. George Friday, April 19 for a double header against the Rebels. Under the proposed arrangements neither C S U or Dixie will play at Ephralm this season. Coach Petty indicated that although al-though outdoor woikouts have been nil this week, the squad has been working out in the fieldhouse. Jim Porter, formerly with Delta High, will probably get the number num-ber one post on the pitching staff with Jerald Oldroyd also working on the mound. Completing Complet-ing the battery will probably be Theron Johnson, also a product of Delta High. Oldroyd is a former for-mer Richfield student. Lettermen who are returning and who will undoubtedly see a lot of action include: Kim Jones, first base; Sam Ware, third, and Gene Secrist and Jack Winkel In the outfield. Expected to fill In some of the holes will be Nord Sorenson, Sa-. Sa-. Una, second base; Gary PortT and Leon Jackson, at shortstop; Frank Grygla in the outfield, and Clayton Petty, a Cedar High graduate, at first base. |
