Show CEDAR CITY SOCIAL SWING After spending a week swimming swim-ming and enjoying the beautiful beauti-ful flowers and warm sunshine of Phoenix. Ariz.. Mrs. Willis Wynn finds the snow quite a contrast. con-trast. She and her three children chil-dren traveled to Arizona witli her parents. Mr. and Mrs. E. K. Winder of Salt Lake City. En-route En-route they enjoyed the color and sights of Grand Canyon. Mrs. Wynn returned to Salt Lake City for a short visit, after which Mr. Wynn made the trip to Salt Lake for the return trip to Cedar Ciy. On Friday afternoon Rayrna Anderson entertained a group of friends. The occasion was to wish Luree Schmutz a happy birthday. birth-day. The afternoon was spirit visiting after which cake and ice cream wire served. On hand to wish Mrs. Schmutz well were Dorothy Urie, Afton Banks, Nel-da Nel-da Jones, Evelyn Williams and Zola Dalley. It is always enjoyable to et together with old schoolmates. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Keith Norris had as their puests for dinner Mr. and Mrs. Grant Rogers, Rog-ers, with whom they attended school. Mr. Rogers has recently been appointed to the Bureau of Land Management In St. George. In full agreement with our spring snow are a group of local skiiers. They have many activities activi-ties planned for enjoying it fully. ful-ly. Some of the group traveled last week end to Alta where they found the snow just right for good skiing. They met friends from Grand Junction, Colo, which made their stay at Rustler's ! lodge even more fun. The Ei"uP 'consisted of Carolyn' Pace, Bob Earhart and Parker Gay. The Circle K Dancing Club of Kanab sponsored a jamboree last Saturday evening. Many of our local dancers spent an enjoyable evening swinging their partners. Various clubs from St. George, Payson and Nephl were present. A floor show was presented after af-ter which a chuckwagon luncheon lunch-eon was served. The Hey Cedar Club won the distinction of hav-ing hav-ing the most participants. Some of those present from this organization organi-zation were the Jack Thuets, Fred Murrals. Dick Clarks, Bob Smiths, Ray Stapleys, Frank Holmes and Haze Hunters. The Rainbow Rounders were represented repre-sented by Mr. and Mrs. Bob Lin-ford, Lin-ford, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Banks, Mr. and Mrs. Gall Duncan, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Schmutz, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Tucker and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wood. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Cardon spent part of last week in Provo for the M-Men basketball tournament. Mr. Cardon coached the local Institute In-stitute team. After watching some exciting basketball games, they returned to Cedar Saturdav. On their way home, they visited in F.phraim with Mr. and Mrs Ray Cleave, who Is director of the Institute at Snow College. Serving as co-hostess for a family dinner In honor of Major and Mrs. Calvert B. Andrus and their three children were Pearl Bennett, Mary Leigh and Dawn Hunter, sister of Major Andrus. Mrs. A. B. Andrus traveled from St. George to enjoy the reunion with her chi?rtren. Major Andrus and family h.iv returned to Camp Polk, La., v. here he is stationed. sta-tioned. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Morrill visited vis-ited Sunday evening with Florence Flor-ence Cardon, sister of Mrs. Morrill. Mor-rill. The Morrllls were returning to Provo after a visit in Arizona. Mrs. Antone Lambert and her daughter Ember recently returned return-ed from a two week stay in San Marino, Calif. They stayed at the home of Mrs. Lambert's sis. ter and husband. Dr. and Mr?. C. M. Clark. Especially enjoyable enjoya-ble was the time they had to visit with Tonl Lambert who has been spending the winter at the home of her uncle while attending attend-ing school, while he has been doing orthodontic work for her. Toni will return home at Easier time for a two week visit. Recently the North Elementary P TA unit held its election. The new officers elected to take office In June are Mrs. Aubra Lam- beth, president; Mrs. Robert Overson, vice president. The secretary sec-retary and other officers will be chosen at a later date. Both Mrs. Lambeth and Mrs. Overson are planning to attend the State P-TA P-TA Convention which is to be held sarly in MV- The outgoing officers for this gro! are, Mrs. Therol M"Arthur, president; Mrs. Al Jensen, vice presort, and Mrs. Arthur Higboe, secretary. Visiting her sister Mrs. Zina Rigby last Saturday from Nevada Neva-da was Ann Jones. Mrs. Jones, who is activity counselor for the Lake Mead Stake YWMIA chap-eroned chap-eroned 30 young people who were participating in the Regional Music Mu-sic Festival here. She spent her free time with her sister, and In the evening they attended the festival together. Mrs. Jones will be remembered as a former Cedar Ce-dar City resident. Miss Sharol McArthur entertained enter-tained a group of her teenage friends after the Junior High dance last Friday. A lovely dinner din-ner was served by candlelight. Indian figurines marked the places for Bonnie Bauer, Glen Crawford. Nadine Bradshaw, Dennis Den-nis Mosdel. Sandra Dalley, Ken-neth Ken-neth Cox, Michael Knell and the young hostess. "After spending the winter in Cedar City. Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Holt bid their son-in-law and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. James Amend goodbye. Also on hand to see her grandparents off was Sandi Amend. Mr. and Mrs. Holt plan to spend some time In Salt Lake before going to their home in Helse, Idaho. , Miss Diane Cooley entertained at her home Monday evening for the group of C S U students who have been traveling to various places in the state giving assembly assem-bly programs. A hot dinner wa; served after which games were played and later the groun attended at-tended the local theatre. Those attending were Nellene Party, Shirley Graff. Geraldine Smith, Marilyn Halversen, Roxanna Coulter, Sherrlll Hunter. Roland Hilton, Ron Munford, Jim Nae-gle, Nae-gle, David Williams Wendcl Hea-ton Hea-ton and Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Webster. Web-ster. Traveling to Salt Lake City for the Primary conference were the following members of the Cedar Stake Primary Board: Lucretla Ashcroft, Blanche LeBaron, Afton Topham. Helen Knight. Just returned from a month's vacation are Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Ver-non Jones and children Leon and Tonvp Mr. Jones, who Is oounrv coordinator for the Ground Ob-srvor Ob-srvor Corps, took his family with him as he traveled to Florida for neclal training. Trvellng by car hey went via Amarlllo, Tex, and eturned via the southern route. Vr their two-week stay In flor-Ida, flor-Ida, they took accommodations at Mexico Beach just a short distance from Panama City. They were able to enjoy the breakers snd some wonderful swimming. They visited many places of Interest In-terest along their route of travel. Some of the high spots were Jacksonville. Fla., Baton Rouge, La.. New Orleans, La., Mobile, Ala.. El Paso, Texas, Carlsbad Caverns, Mesa and Phoenix, Art-zona, Art-zona, where they visited with old Army friends. They also report having visited with the former Mary Leone Halght. at Lake Charles. La. and with Henry P. Davis and his daughter Pat, in El Paso, Texas. Mr. Davis will be remembered In Cedar City as he was In charge of the construction of the local electric plant.. Before returning home, the family trav-eled trav-eled to San Diego, Calif, where they visited with Vernetta Sa-bin, Sa-bin, her husband and family. Mrs. Sabin will be remembered as Vernetta Jones. The entire family voice the opinion that It was a wonderful month. The home of Leatha Prestwlch gave everyone the feeling of spring last Thursday evening, when she was hostess to the Beta Be-ta Sigma Phi sorority. The rooms were decorated with yellow roses and the table had a beautiful centerpiece of pink and yellow flowers. Mrs. Prestwich present-1 ed the highlights of her recent trip to Mexico from the time they left Cedar until their return. re-turn. The entire group felt that their spring functions had been heralded in in the best of style. Eldon L. Schmutz of New Harmony, Har-mony, visited at the home of his son Eldon W. Schmutz Friday. I Mr. Schmutz has recently retu-n-ed from Washington. D. C. He and Mrs. Schmutz accompanied I their daughter Amllee, who is I a United Air Line stewardess, to Washington. D. C. after her va cation at home. While In tho East they visited New York xnd j Boston and did som extensive1 j sightseeing. Mrs. Schmutz re- mained In the East until April 15 at which time she will return to her home.
