Show Asking For It Dr. Margaret Blair Johnstone, noted Congregation-ist Congregation-ist minister in Massachusetts, suggests that parents ask themselves some questions. The answer may indicate the direction the parents are heading. Two year old: "addy, read me a story." "Not now, son. Some other time." Four year old: "Mommy, let me help." "Not today, dear, I'm in a hurry." Eight year old: "Dad, let's go fishing." "You run along, I'm too tired." Twelve year old: "Pop, how about coming to Scout meeting tonight?" "Sorry, fellow. You know I always bowl on Thursdays." Ten year old: "Mom, show me how to bake a cake." "Mary, I'm so busy. Maybe next time." Sequel: Then comes the time when Father demands of his 15 year old son, "John, where were you last night?" and John's answer is "Out." or when mother anxiously asks her 16 year old daughter, "Mary, how could you?" and gets the reply, "So what!" - |
