Show Parowan Couple Honored at Farewell Social A missionary farewell testimonial testi-monial was held Friday evening in honor of Dr. and Mrs. Lionel Sorenson, members of the Parowan Paro-wan Third Ward for the past several sev-eral years, who have accepted a call from the L D S church to serve as missionaries in the Hawaiian Ha-waiian Islands. They will be accompanied ac-companied to the Islands by their niece, Miss Betty Ann Mason. The program for the testimonial testimon-ial was arraged by the Parowan Stake High Priests, with Bishop Howard Adams conducting and talking briefly. Other speakers, were Jim Heywood of the Cedar City Rotary Club, of which Dr. Sorenson was a member; Barbara M. Adams and the missionaries and their niece. Musical numbers consisted of a quartet by Verl Taylor, Gordon Whitney, Karl and Harold Mitchell, Mitch-ell, with Haniona Stubbs accompanying; accom-panying; a duet by Ramona and Elna Stubbs, and Shirley Evans accompanied by Itha Mortensen; a vocal solo by Mary Topham accompanied ac-companied on the organ by Mrs. Mortensen; a violin solo by Elna Stubbs with Ramona Stubbs at the piano; a piano medley by La-Noir La-Noir Asay and a solo by Howard Knight with Annie Jones at the piano. Marguerite Orton gave a comic reading. George D. Grimshaw offered the opening prayer and Bishop R. Taylor Miller the benediction. The Sorensons Kft Sunday for northern Utah to visit for a day or two before entering the mission mis-sion home in Salt Lake City. |
