Show SALT LAKE SHOW Winners Picked For TV Talent Contest Five numbers were chosen from a field of 14 Wednesday evening at the Kiwanis sponsored talent show at College of Southern Utah auditorium, to appear on television televi-sion in Salt Lake City Sunday evening. Eugene Jelesnik, west coast representative for the nationally famous Ted Mack amateur talent show, personally selected the five numbers and acted as master mas-ter of ceremonies. Three of the numbers were taken from winners of the Cedar talent show held last Friday evening. eve-ning. Two were from a similar show held by the St. George Ki-wanlans Ki-wanlans also an Friday evening. From the Cedar show Craig Barrick. 11. with his Dantomime number, was chosen. Craig is from Hurricane and has perform-ed perform-ed on a number of occasions in Cedar City. The Four Keys, a quartet from the Cedar City High School composed of Heed Hey-wood, Hey-wood, Raymond Munford, Neil Petty and Travis Nelson, accom-panted accom-panted by Helen Harris, and a dancing quartet also from the high school, composed of Diana Seegmiller, Maxine Naegle, Linda Lin-da Corry and Joyce Hall were the other two selections. From St. George a duet calypso number by nine year old Carlo Jo and seven year old Rebecca Terry, daughters of Dr. and Mrs. Carlson Terry, won over the audience aud-ience and Jelesnik. The fifth and final number was a piano solo rendered by 12 year old Myron Syphus, also of St. George. A total of 36 boys and girls through 18 years of age participated parti-cipated in the show, and 12, In the five numbers, will make the trip to Salt Lake City. Expenses for the contestants to Salt Lake will be paid by the two Kiwanis Clubs from receipts of the show, according to Bob Hansen, boys and girls chairman of Cedar City. The Sunday show will consist exclusively of the five southern Utah numbers and the winner there will compete the following Saturday on a Ted Mack semifinal semi-final contest consisting of a number of weekly winners, Jelesnik Jeles-nik said. Local residents can participate in the balloting by writing to KUTA-TV in Salt Lake City or phoning KSUB, 590 in Cedar City.
