Show Explorer-and Cub Scout Programs Pushed in Cedar Many adults in the Cedar Breaks District, Utah National Parks Council of the Boy Scouts of America, have completed the, basic training courses in Cubj Scouting and Exploring. Upon completing the final session of, the explorer training in the Boot Strap Theater, College of Southern South-ern Utah on Wednesday, Nov. 26 for the new explorer training program which is being launch-1 ed by the National Council, 13 explorer leaders, committeemen, and others affiliated with the. program received their certificates certifi-cates frcm Con Hatch, Cedar Breaks Commissioner of Explor-' ing. Assisting Mr. Hatch as Instructors In-structors were George BarrusJ district commissioner, and Joseph Jo-seph Barney, field scout evecu-tive. evecu-tive. Fifty-seven parents and Cub Scout leaders received their certificates cer-tificates of training completed at the final session In the First Ward chnpel on Friday, Nov. 23. Many folks enjoyed their first opportunity to get a glimpse of the cub scout program which Is under way in the Cedar Breaks District with three cub packs at the present time totaling 120 boys. George Barrus, district commissioner, com-missioner, and Newel Wasden, district vice chairman, presented tne loiks with their certificates under the direction of Keith Mldgley who will be the cubbing cub-bing commissioner. Thirty-three cub leaders will attend the first organizational meeting on pack administration on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p. m. In the LDS Seminary. Sem-inary. The first pack meetings are being scheduled for January with the weekly den meetings beginning right after Christmas with den mothers conducting them and being aided by Boy Scouts In the area. Mrs. Ray Baumgartner, president, Cedar Stake Primary Association, states that a fourth pack will have to be organized In the near future and extends an Invitation to all parents and boys of age 8, 9, and 10 to join this fine community program provided by the National Nation-al Council of ahe Boy Scouts of America. Training will be provided each month throughout the year at the monthly roundtable meetings conducted by the district commissioner com-missioner staff. |
