Show Cedar Redmen Open Basketball Season With Twin Loss at Hands of Nevada High Teams Cedar High School Redmen basketball squad took It on the chtn on two counts as they open, ed the 1958-59 season on the road, meeting Basic High of Henderson, Hen-derson, Nev., Friday evening and Las Vegas High at Las Vegas Saturday night. Basic handed Coach Bruce Decker's Redmen their first defeat, de-feat, 67 to 43. and Las Vegas continued to pour on the steam , In defeating the Cedar City crew by a score of 62 to 43. Leading was Wcs-ton Wcs-ton Kitchen, center for Couch Bruce Decker, who has moved In to fill the shoes of Boyd "White Cliffs" Dover, who graduated last year and who Is playing on the University of Utah freshman squad this season. Kitchen tanked 15 points against Basic and totaled 18 against Las Vegas. In addition he led 'the team In rebounds, picking off a total of 17 against Basic and more than respectable 29 against Las Vegas. Sheldon Bowler, playing at the forward post, was another Redman Red-man who turned In a creditable performance in the two-game scries. scr-ies. He hit four field goals In as many attempts against Basic and ririd two for two from the foul ' line for 10 points.
