Show Auto Accident Claims Lives of Two Cedar Men Two Cedar City jnen drowned near Caliente, Nev., early Sunday morning as the iesu!t of an automobile au-tomobile crash. The deaths occurred oc-curred when the automobile in which the men were riding crashed through a construction barricade and plunged Into aj water-filled pit I The two men who lost their lives In the freak accident were Ryland Gould Anderson, 33, and Udean Webster, 44. Anderson, a natve of Cedar City, had been1 residing In Salt Lake City, for some time, but was here working work-ing on the new South Elementary Elemen-tary school building. After hitting the barricade,1 set up because of construction on a bridge, the automobile rolled onto its top and settled into about five feet of water In the excavation for the bridge footings. foot-ings. The accident occurred at about 5:30 a. m. Sunday. The whels of the overturned machine were seen sticking out of the water by a road construction inspector about 10 a. m., and the fate of the two men was diwovered. The Inspector had gene to the area to check newly-poured concrete on the bridge project. The men had been seen in Caliente about 6 a. m. Ryland Gould Anderson was born Sept 26, 1925 in Cedar City,1 a son of Russel E. and Minnie Gould Anderson, and had spent most of his life here. He married Ramona Winn in Las Vegas in October, 1949. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having hav-ing served during World War II. He is survived by his widow,! Salt Lake City; his mother, Cedar City, and three sisters, Mrs. Winston (Ruby) Seegmiller, Mrs. Kldon (Marian) Ashdown. both of Cedar City, and Mrs. Don (Ro- mayne) Cooper, Fayson. Funeral services were held in, the Cedar First Ward chapol onj Tuesday afternoon, and burial war in the Cedar City cemetery. Udean Webster was born Sept. 30, 1914, in Cedar City, a son of William and Annie Odessa Johnson John-son Webster. He had spent his life here, and at the time of his( death was an ore sampler for the Utah Construction Company. He was a veteran of World War II. He Is survived by his mother, Cedar City, and ' the following brothers and sister: Burdett and Mark Webster, Cedar City;; Mrs. Ervln (Vernessa) Skcems; Mrs.. Al (Cassle) Johnson, Oasis; William Wil-liam (Bill) Webster, Escalante; Marcellus Webster, Oakley, Ida-ho; Ida-ho; Mrs. Prentiss (Carrie) Par-ham, Par-ham, St. Anthony, Idaho; Mrs. Roy (Elda) Blrrell Salt Lake City, and Harry Webster, Payson. |
