ATTENDED BY STATE OFFICERS LWV Holds Interesting Membership Meet I membership breakfast on Wed-j inesday morning, attended by 33 members and guests. Mrs. J. W. Campbell, president presided at the meeting giving a word of welcome, and Introducing the state board members who were guests of the local league and also the local officers and board members. Mrs. C. H. H. Branch, chairman chair-man of the state nominating com mittee, presented a very Interesting Interest-ing discussion on the background and purpose of the league. The !iopes and aims of the founders of the league at the time of the original organization In 1920, vhen they fully expected to complete com-plete the training of the women of the United States to be Informed In-formed voters In a short five years. Now we realize that the League interests ever grow and become more vital as does the entire government of our nation. Mrs. Ranch Kimball briefly discussed the work of committees and their share In the forward movement of the league. The great need for committees to help carry on an efficient and active league, and Mrs. L. R. Johnson explained the thrill of being Informed In-formed and able to appreciate the news both via radio and the printed word when one contacts them. After breakfast the group broke up into small units and the various chairmen from the local board headed a discussion to explain the work of their special spe-cial committees to the members and prospective members. The next unit meetings of the league will be July 8, at 10 a. m., July 9, 8 p. m. and in the library. The topic for discussion at these meetings will be a review re-view of the state current agenda agen-da topic, "Administration of Public Pub-lic Assistance Programs," or a survey of public welfare in Utah. |
