Show Heart Attack Claims Life oi Erastus B. Dalley Erastus B. Dalley, 78, well-known well-known Cedar City educator and church worker, died. Sunday, June 15, following a long illness. ill-ness. He had been In poor health for many months and suf- fered a heart attack about ai month ago, followed by a stroke a few days before his death. Funeral services were conduct-' ei In the First Ward chapel on1 Tuesday afternoon, by Bishop Clemont B. Adams. Burial was in the Cedar City cemetery. Mr. Dalley was born March 11, 1880 in Summit, a son of James and Lettie Bcrtleson Dalley. He married MarRaret Priyor on Sept. 1, 1903, in the St. George Temple. Tem-ple. Mr. Dalley was graduated from the Branch Normal School at Cedar Ce-dar City, and the University of, Utah. For 33 years he was a teacher and principal in Arizona, Nevada and Utah. He was also a superintendent super-intendent of Iron County Schools and was clerk of the Iro;i County Draft Board from 19'5 to 1935. Mr. Dalley had also been employed em-ployed as clerk of Union Pacific Greyhound Bus line. An nrtive momher of the LDS Church, he organized the first Parowan Stake Choir and was a choir leader for 50 years. He also was president of the YMMIA, was Sunday School Superintendent Superinten-dent and a president of the quorum quor-um of Seventy in his stake. He was a charter member of Cedar City Master Singers and pUycd first violin in the Cedar City Community Orchestra. He Is survived by his widow, Cedar City; four sons and three daughters, Ramola Lee and Rue B. Dalley, Henderson, Nev.; Al-j bert Dallev. Overton. Nev.: Nolan! Dalley, Lark, Utah; Mrs. C. J. (Zelma) Krleger, Logan; Austin Daliley, Cedar City, and Margar-i et Dalley, American Fork. Speakers at the funeral services serv-ices were Samuel F. Leigh, who for many years worked with Mr. Dalley on the Selective Service Board, and J. S. Prestwlch. History His-tory of the deceased was given by Bishop Adams. Invocation was by Owen Matheson, Benediction by Otto Dalley, Summit, and the dedicatory prayer at the cemetery ceme-tery by H. H. Lunt. Prayer at the mortuary prior to the services serv-ices was by Henry P. Dotson. The musical program Included a song, "The Lord Is My Shepherd," Shep-herd," by a mixed quartet composed com-posed of Lois McConnell, Mamie Ack, Vernon A. Jones and Ray Cosslett, accompanied by Beth Leigh; two vocal solos, "I'm a Pilgrim," and "Oh, My Father," by Myles Walker, accompanied by Mrs. Leigh, and a violin solo by Roy L. Halversen, accompanied accompan-ied by his daughter Marilyn. Prelude Pre-lude and pnstlurie organ music was by Pamela Wood. |
