Show Cedar Entrants Finish High in Boat Marathon Adrian Baldwin, Ben Baldwin, Howard Thorley, Mel Thorley, Mr. and Mrs. Claron Bradshaw and Mr. and Mrs. Del Rich, all members of the Southern Utah Boat Club of Cedar City, participated parti-cipated In the recently completed Canyon Country Marathon Boat Rare In Southeastern Utah. The race Is for a distance of 200 miles and starts fit the tovrn of Green River and runs down the Green River to where it meets the Colorado then back, north, up the Colorado River to Moab. The race covers a tough, tortuous tor-tuous course with swift water and many obstacles such as sand bars and floating logs; but all of the local men finished in good shape. Adrian and Ben Baldwin finished fin-ished fourth in their class with a time of five hours, 19 minutes and 23 seconds. A delay for refueling re-fueling possibly cost the Baldwins Bald-wins a first or second in this class. Bradshaw and Rich finished fin-ished eighth in their class with a time of seven hours, 2Vi minutes. The sponsoring organizations, the Moab Boat Club and the Moab ii nd Creen River Chambers of Commerce, had the race very well organized, It was reported. A free barbecue and dance Saturday Sat-urday evening got the affair started and a free breakfast was served Sunday morning before the race. During the race every precaution precau-tion was taken for the safety of the entrants. Pickup boats were stationed every 10 miles and two airplanes were constantly over head. Everyone thAroughly enjoyed the race, and it is expected that the Southern Utah Boat Club will turn out In force for next year's race. It is also reported that the local lo-cal boat club is currently conducting con-ducting a membership drive.
