Show Utah Teens Toke 4-H Project Honors M!u M.rko. SI Miti Gardner One of I'tah's winners In the 4-H bread demonstration project for 1959 was 15-year-old Franclne Markos of Ogden. Miss Markos won the contest with a batch of "Greek holiday bread" mixed in the car as it sped, one half hour late, to the state fair where the demonstration took place. She had no lukewarm water and no place to melt the butter, I but Miss Markos won top honors In her demonstration and a trip to the 38th National 4-H Club Congress In Chicago. The trip was prorided by Standard Brands. With her proficiency established estab-lished In this project. Miss Markos Mar-kos carries on the family tradition tradi-tion of making Greek bread. She Is a sophomore In Weber County High school and a vice president ot the local Three for the Foods 4-H Club. Three other Utah 4-H bread demonstrators have won $50 U.S. savings bonds, also given by Standard Brands for superior work done under direction ot the Cooperative Extension Service. I z J Miu Diction L s - MittWillwe Geneal Gardner, 15, of Clear-Held, Clear-Held, is a prize winner In Davis county with ber "bow to make dinner rolls" demonstration. A' freshman at North Davis Junior Hibh ' hool, she has been in 4-H woiW seven years. She is president of the Nifty NIbblers 4-H Club and leader of the Flxle Pixies. "Butterscotch pecan rolls" won the $50 bond for Suzann Dickson, 18, of Morgan. A seven year 4-H member, Miss Dickson is secretary, reporter, re-porter, and leader of local clubs, and song Jeader of Morgan county coun-ty 4 11 Club. A graduate of Morgan Mor-gan High school, she is enrolled at Weber College. By making "fancy rolls," Von-da Von-da Willson, 15, of Elmo In Emery county, won the bread demonstration. demon-stration. Miss Will son, a sophomore sopho-more at North Emery High school, is also a seven-year 4-H Club member. She Is vice president of her local 4-H Club and junior leader of the Clever Clovers 4-H Club. i |
