Show Redmen Defeat Hurricane to Hold Second j Place in First Half Dixie Division Contest Cedar High School Redmen In lackadaisical style defeated the Hurricane Tigers last Wednesday evening by a score of 47 to 33, to end tne first half of play In second place in the Dixie Division Divi-sion with a three win and one loss record. The Redmen seemed to put forth only the effort that was needed to defeat the Tigers and to rally only when the hard fighting Tigers pressed into contention. con-tention. Moving out to an 8 to 2 advan- tage the Redmen looked like they were go!ng to run away with the game, but two baskets by tiie Tigers brought them to within two points and the quarter quar-ter ended with a two-point margin mar-gin for the Redmen, 10 to 8. Hurricane tied it up to open the second period by sinking two foul pitches but Misel hit one of two fouls and Jeff Marchant added a bucket to move out in font 13 to 10. Not giving up, the Tigers scored two from the field to take a 11 to 13 lead. It was the only lead they hold in the game, however, as a basket by Cahoon and another an-other by Marchant moved the Redmen back into the lead and they spurted to a halftime margin mar-gin of 25 to 18. Early in the second half the Redmen opened up a big gap, 31 to 20 and Coach Bruce Decker cleared the bench for the remaining re-maining quarter and one-half of play. The hustling Tigers out rebounded re-bounded the Redmen, picking up 13 offensive rebounds and 24 defensive. de-fensive. The Redmen snagged one less offensive rebound, 12, and were two under their opponents oppon-ents in the defensive end, with 22. Redmen hit an even 3Qr,r from the field with 20 in 6G attempts. Hurricane hit 12 of 47 for 25rr. From the foul line the Redmen hit a low 33'r with seven in 21 attempts. Hurricane was not much better with 40r nine for 22.
