Show LIVING IN THE ESGALANTE VALLEY j COUNCIL MEETING The Focalante Valley Council meeting for June was conducted by John McGary. Others attending and reporting v. ere: David Love, Bryner Wood, Alex Wood, Neilse Neilsen, Alene Smith, Georgia Moyle, Edith Force, Ladies club president Miriam Mir-iam McGary and Lions Club president. Jack Moyle. Mrs. Force and Mrs. Smith reported on the Y. Z. Trail and the large sign that is nearing completion. Bryner Wood reported report-ed on the success of the recent rabbit hunt and announced the swimming program being conducted con-ducted at the Veyo swimming pool by the Red Cross. He also announced the cub scout pack meeting for the New Castle and Escalante Valley Dens to be held on June 23. Baseball for the Boy Scouts was discussed by Neilse Neilsen. Other Oth-er subjects reported on were school, power, wild life, agriculture, agricul-ture, building, road, and telephone. tele-phone. LIONS CLUB The Lions club meeting held Wednesday June 14, was conducted con-ducted by President Jack Moyle. Dinner for the evening was prepared pre-pared by Mike Torres, Johnny Vicerra and Johnny Aqueno. A donation along with such from the Ladies club for a grill for the recreation building was discussed. Installation of new officers will be held at Veyo the 4th Wednesday Wed-nesday in June. LADIES CLUB Ladies Club was held June 15 at the home of Mrs. Jean Love with Mrs. Francis Piper as Co-hostess. Co-hostess. Business was conducted by president Miriam McGary after which the time was turned to the hostesses 'or nn evening of games and delicious refreshments refresh-ments that were served. Game prizes were won by Pat Moyle, Rosilla Hills, and Augusta Hunt. 4- H CLUB Br Joelyn Holt Pixie Stitchers is the name selected se-lected by the members of our second year sewing 4-H club in the Escalante Valley. , Our officers are: Susan Wood, president; Maureen Burgess, vice president; Carolyn Jones, secretary; secre-tary; Joelyn Holt, reporter; Gay-lene Gay-lene Hunt, song leader; Sondra Bracken, health and safety and Maxine Auld, recreation. The leader is Marilyn Gardner, assistant leader is Marilyn Holt and Jr. leader is Carol Hunt. We want to thank the Singer Sewing Center for the use of two sewing machines. We are looking forward to a good summer. HERE AND THERE There has recently been organized or-ganized in this area by the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints, an Indian mission. Among those being asked to serve in this mission were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Holt, Mr. and Mrs. StaPiu'oru Gicmril, Mr. and Mrs. Terry Tait and Lula Jones, all from Enterprise, and Mrs. and Mrs. Joe Romero from the Escalante Esca-lante Valley. Mr. Romero is to serve as Superinten-lcnt of the M. I. A. and Mrs. Romero will work in the Junior Sunday school We are all going to miss our association with the Crum Family Fami-ly who moved to Montana June 17th. Leaving the Escalante Valley Val-ley was Mrs. Jennie Crum and three daughters, Linda, Judy and Chrie. Mrs. Crum's father and her son Bob have stayed with her since Mr. Crum's death. Bob is going back to Germany to meet with his wife and baby. Bob is serving his country in Germany. Ger-many. Mr. will be going with Mrs. Crum to Montana. Mrs. Wayne Holt and children visited in Provo attending the BYU graduation excerclses. Her brother and sister, Richard and Glenda Snow both graduated. Mrs. Holt's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grant B. Snow and Glennda and fiance, Dale Estes, returned with her for a short visit. Virginia Bailey, Betty and Carol Car-ol Robinson are visiting at Hem-et Hem-et and Long Beach, California for a few weeks. Roca Ramera, Georgia Moyle and Mrs. Ramera's mother, Mrs. Mary Alger, attended the funeral services for Reldon Prince Hall at New Harmony Saturday. Phyllis Wood's mother, Mrs. Delvecchio of Salt Lake, Rex Wood, Leo Barlocker, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Phelps, Mrs. and Mrs. Clayton Bracken, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Force, Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Austin, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Flinspaeh, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Thorley and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jack E. Moyle Sr., George Moyle and Mrs. Jack Moyle Jr. attended a wedding recept'on for Mr. and Mrs. Richard Rich-ard Flinspaeh at Panaca, Nev. Mrs. Flinspaeh was the former Collene Bradshaw of Panaca, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marell Bradshaw. Richard, known to friends as Mike, is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Flinspaeh of Modena. |
