Show City Council Approves Oiling Plan For Cedar City Streets. Junctions Authorization tor the street oiling oil-ing program for the coming year was approved at the meeting of the Cedar City Council Thursday evening, June 15. Five major sites approved by the council for oiling and some allocations were left open con-tigent con-tigent on the cooperation of residents re-sidents to have the street oiled to the gutter in various locations, according to Mayor Arnold Anderson. An-derson. Definitely assigned for oiling this summer were the following locations: MONTEREY DRIVE from 150 East to 300 East. HAMILTON AVENUE from Avenue North to 200 North. JOURNEY'S END from Mon-terev Mon-terev Drive South to end of street. 5)0 WEST STREET from 300 South to 400 South. 450 WEST STREET from 400 South to 500 South. Class "C" Road Fund Also included will be a number of Intersections throughout the city the mayor Indicated. Funds for th street oiling program pro-gram are derived from allocations alloca-tions of the State "C" Road fund, the mayor stated. Bids for the oiling project were also opened at the meeting and the firm of Mcndenhall Construction Construc-tion Co. was awarded the contract. con-tract. Two bids wore received. Mendenhall submitted a bid for 9 cents a square foot for two inch asphalt mat and five cents a square yard for tack coating. Also bidding was Chet Tarry Sand and Gravel. Parry's bid was for ton cents a square foot for two Inch asphalt mat and four and one-half cents a square yard for tack coating. Saie of $20,000 In bonds on the Quitchapah water development project was also approved at the meeting by the council. Five Firms submitted bids with the firm of J. A. Hogle Co. of Salt Lake City offering the lowest Interest rate. Following Is a schedule of the , bids Including the firm and the Interest rate bid: J. A. Hogle, Salt Lake City, 2.940. E. L. In other action of the council authorization was given to: Put out for bids approximately approxi-mately seven tons of 10" sal-vaged sal-vaged cast iron pipe with bids to be received prior to the next meeting of the council. Lay sewer line across the property owned by the State Fish and Game Dept. north of Cedar City with cost of installation to be borne by the Fish and Game.' Accept water agreement with the Painted Hills Country Club conditional upon the acceptance by the State Engineer for a change of diversion of water owned by the Golf organization to the Enoch Well. Water would thrn be placed in the system and would be used by the club with wheeling charge to be born by the Golf Association. Denied request by the Hoy Cedar's Square Dance Club for the use of the Airport Administration Administra-tion building for square dancing. Reionlng Ordinance Accept vacating agreement of the LaVista Park subdivision and to accept an ordinance to rezone the necessary area in the South East portion of the city from residential to hospital to allow for the construction of the new Iron County hospital. Denied request from Lang Wong, former Cedar City cafe operator, to lease restaurant facilities fa-cilities at Escalante Hotel. Vern Kupfer of the College of Southern Utah met with the council to discuss the possibility of converting the facilities of the hotel for use as dormitories during dur-ing the regular school year. Mayor Anderson also reported that both the East and the West water storage tanks have now been placed In service.
