Show Iron County Taxes Raised 5.7 on Property Property taxes in Iron County , Increased $116,749 or 5.7 during 1909, according to a study just released by Utah Foundation, the private, nonprofit, tax research Croup. In 1959 the total property proper-ty tax bill was $2,180,300 compared com-pared with $2,063,551 in 1958. The Foundation's study also shows that $1,787,551, or 81.9 of all property taxes Imposed In Iron County during 1959 was charged to owners of commercial ud industrial property; $212,886 ar 9-8 to residential property; proper-ty; $123,585 (or 5.7) to agricultural agricul-tural property; $55,503 (or 2.6) to motor vehicles, and $1,728 (or 01) to other miscellaneous' classes. According to the Utah Foundation Founda-tion report, more than half of the total property tax bill paid throughout the state In 1959 was borne by owners of commercial and Industrial property. Taxes charged against commercial and industrial property amounted to $16,959,113, or 56.4 of the prop-erty prop-erty tax total Residential property prop-erty ownr paid $25,037,205 (30.1 per cent of the total). Of the remaining re-maining amounts, $5,761,145 (6.9) was charged to agricultural agricul-tural property owners, $5,154,451 (6.2) to motor vehicles, and $384,985 (0 5) to other minor classes of property. Foundation analysts observe I that most of the property tax Increase In-crease that occurred during 1959 came In the taxes levied for school purposes. Property taxes for schools increased 23 per cent throughout the state In 1959. School taxes totaled $15.2 million mil-lion In 1958, compared with $55.5 million In 1959. Smaller statewide state-wide Increases were noted for municipalities and special dls trlcts, with a slight decline occurring oc-curring in the taxes Imposed by counties. |
