Show Junior Chamber Seeks 1959 Top Young Farmer Cedar City Junior Chamber of Commerce this year is looking for an "Outstanding Young Farmer," Far-mer," and residents of Iron County Coun-ty have been asked to help thun select a recipient of an outstanding outstand-ing your farmer award to be presented pre-sented at the special awards program pro-gram to be held late In January. This program, according to Gordon Twitchell, chairman of the event, Is a nation-wide program pro-gram sponsored by the junior chamber. Local recipient of the award will compete on a state level and the state winner will then advance to the national competition to name America's Outstanding Young Farmer. The program Is set up, Twitchell Twitch-ell stated, to coincide with the Distinguished Service Award, an annual presentation in the community. com-munity. Farm implement houses In the county have been given application applica-tion forms whereby citizens may make nominations for the selection selec-tion of Iron County's outstanding farmer. There are, however, a few qualifications. First, nomin-ee nomin-ee must earn at least two-thirds of his annual Income from farming. farm-ing. Secondly, nominee must be between 21 and 35, not becoming 3G for at least 12 months follow-ing follow-ing his nomination. Selection will be based on three specific areas, Twitchell said. They include first, progress in his farming career; second, nominee's natural resource and conservation practices, and third, nominee's contributions to the well-being of the community. Assisting with the program in Iron County will be Pace Webster Web-ster as board advisor, Bud Bowman, Bow-man, chairman of the judges and awards presentation and Dick Barnes, chairman of publicity. |
