Show Gun and Rod Club Makes Deer Control Proposals Ted Burton, president of the Parowan Gun and Rod Club announces an-nounces that the Parowan club drew up and presented the following fol-lowing recommendations to the Utah Board of Big Game Control Con-trol at its meeting in Cedar City on Monday: That no special permits be sold for hunting during the regular hunt on Herd Unit 57, but would recommend that 300 either-sex permits be issued on the area bounded by U-143 to U-14, to U.S. j 91 and back to point of beginning, begin-ning, to be issued for a five-day notice hunt. The club based its recommendations recommen-dations on the fact that hunter success figure has dropped in this area from 78" in 1960 to COCf. in 1963 with a decline of hunters. The club added that the pellet pel-let group treads are also down In the Paragonah-Cottonwood area of Herd Unit No. 47. Mr. Burton stated "That we realize re-alize we have a problem with deer on the highway between Parowan and Cedar City with approximately 250 killed during the year. We therefore recommend recom-mend a five-day notice hunt with 300 special either sex permits per-mits to take care of the problem." |
