Show Milne, Kiwanis Battle in League Scramble Milne and Kiwanis are in a two way battlo for honors in the American Little League. Milne with a make up game win Saturday Satur-day over Rotary, 22 to 10, ended up in a tie for the first half championship and each with two games in the second half of play this week are again tied. Saturday Milne belted out 14 hits to score their 22 runs olf Bernie Leavitt, Gary Jones and Greg Woods of Rotary. Milne had a home run by Frank Adams, a triple by the pitcher, Merrill Williams; two doubles by Brent Hunter and doubles by Tommy Higbee and Charles Morris. Mor-ris. Glen Miller of Rotary also homered in the contest. In second half action Kiwanis got off to a winning start with a 6 to 3 victory over Rotary. Chris Bulloch was the winning pitcher and Dale Mosdell suffered suffer-ed the loss. Jeff Carr, Sterling Slmkins doubled for Kiwanis and Crea Mcftlullin belted a home run. Milne matched the win with a 6 to 3 victory over Webster with Tommy Higbee getting credit for the victory. Nolan Anderson and Robin Halght saw mound duty for Webster. Extra base hits in the game included two doubles by Haight of Webster and a double dou-ble by Krank Adams of Milne. Kiwanis continued their winning win-ning ways Monday with a 9 to 7 victory over Webster. They collected col-lected 10 hits off Steven Brown and Ronald Adams of Webster and Kirk Lunt and Sterling Sim-kins Sim-kins shared mound duty for the winners. Only extra base hit of the game was a double by Lance Whetten of Webster. Tuesday it was all tied up ain with Milne shellacking Rotary Ro-tary 22 to 16. A total of 33 hits were collected In the contest, 22 by Milne and 11 by Rotary. Milne sent Mike Major, Louis Kunz, Brent Hunter and Tommy Higbee to the mound while Rotary Ro-tary pitched Dale Mosdell, Curt Berry, Bobby Jensen and Lynn Hatch. Extra base hits included two home runs by Merrill Williams, Wil-liams, two doubles by Mike Major, Ma-jor, two by Lyle Heyborne and one each by Tommy Higbee, Merrill Mer-rill Williams and Frank Adams, all for Milne. Dale Mosdell and Charles Mosdell each homered for Rotary and Glen Miller collected col-lected two doubles. Lynn Hatch and Bernie Leavitt had one each. The second half tie between Milne and Kiwanis will be broken bro-ken this evening, Thursday, when the two teams meet for the first time in the second half. |
