Show California-Pacific Wins First Half Championship in City Pony League Team Standings Callf.-Pacific 6 1 .857 Utah Parks 4 3 .571 Utah Construction 3 4 .428 Winterrose 3 3 .500 State Bank 1 6 .143 California-Pacific wrapped up the first half championship in the Pony League Monday evening even-ing when they defeated Utah Parks 7 to 3. First half ends Friday night and Calif.-Pacific has only one remaining game with a two game lead in the standing. Dale Hatch pitched the Power crew to a 7 to 3 victory Monday with Wade Roberts throwing two innings in relief. Power had eight hits including two triples by Hatch and doubles by Rydn Chamberlain and Mike Leavitt. Wayne Esplin suffered the loss for Utah Parks and the Parks were limited to five singles In the contest. Last Wednesday evening Cal-ifornia-Pacifie handed Winter-rose Winter-rose a 9 to 3 loss to maintain their lead and Hatch again was the winning pitcher. Randy Clove and Fred Livermore were on the mound for Winterrose. Extra base hits included triples by Clove and Livermore and a double by Hatch. Utah Parks picked up a close victory, 7 to 6 over State Bank with Kim Matheson and Greg McMullin sharing mound duties for the losers and Gaylen Heyborne Hey-borne going the distance for the win. Paul Haider and Matheson each doubled for State Bank for the only extra base hits. Utah Parks pushed In two runs In the bottom of the seventh to come from behind for the win. Winterrose collected a victory during the week with a 4 to 2 margin over Utah Construction. Fred Livermore was on the mound for the victors, giving up only one hit, a single in the first inning of play. Winterrose collected five hits, all singles off Allen Bratton and Steve Lunt. Livermore collected a total of 17 strikeouts. Tuesday evening State Bank came up with their first victory of the season with a 16 to 8 win over Utah Construction. A big fifth inn'ng that produced 11 runs on four hits was the difference dif-ference in the game. Greg McMullin Mc-Mullin was the winning pitcher and he also homered In the game. Randy Shirts of State Bank doubled. Scott Lunt and Allen Bratton were on the mound for the losers. |
