Show Dixie Forest Harvest Results In Monies Refunded Monies earned by the Dixie National Forest In fiscal yeai 1957 ending July 31, 1957, have resulted In $19,008.40 being returned re-turned to six southern Utah counties for schools and roads it was announced by Albert Al-bertson, Al-bertson, supervisor of the Dixie National Forest. The United States Forest Fer-vice Fer-vice returns 253 .of all receipts-to receipts-to the counties on a pro rata ba sis in lieu of taxes. In Fiscal year 1957. the Dixie National Forest earned nearly tw'ce ar much money as any other national na-tional forest in t'tah, earning slightly oviT SllJ.OOO. Garfield f'M'nty, which contains con-tains 1.005,fit3 acres of the Dixie National Forest, received the largest amount with $26.876. CO War.hinrrtnn County, with 389 30-1 acres of the Dixie Nat'onal Forest, For-est, received S10.404 2G, Iron County, with 235.209 acres, received re-ceived $r2"6.02; Kane Conn'v with 121 G02 acres, received $3, 219 8-1; Wayne County with 30,-087 30,-087 acres, received $2,140.35, an ! Piute County with only 1.921 acres, received $51.34. Feveral of the above counties received ad-d'tional ad-d'tional amours from other national na-tional forests. Garfield. Iron, H-ute H-ute and Wayne counties each received re-ceived additional amounts from the Fishlake National Forest. A total of $170,102.57 was returned re-turned to all counties of Utah, with Garfield County receiving the largest sum. This large return re-turn comes from a total of 7.-796,826 7.-796,826 acres of national forest land In Utah and Is derived from timber sales, grazing fees, special use fees, power fees and miscellaneous Items, Mr. Al-bertson Al-bertson stated. |
