Show PAR AGON AH NEWS NOTES By Hilma Lamoreaux The holiday season is being ushered in with fitting ceremonies ceremon-ies in Paragonah. Tuesday after noon the ladies of the community commu-nity met at Relief Society meet-ing meet-ing for a Christmas program and party. Gifts were exchanged and each lady received an interesting interest-ing favor. Delicious refreshments consisting oX- home made ice cream and cookies were enjoyed. enjoy-ed. Relief Society president, Mrs. Melva Barton, extended greetings to the entire ward. Tuesday evening the MIA presented a special Christmas program which was followed by a party with games and refreshments. refresh-ments. On Sunday there will be a program pro-gram given in place of the regular reg-ular Sunday School class work. Members of the Junior Sunday Jrchool are Invited to meet with the Senior Sunday School. Mrs. Dortha Barton, Primary President, announces that the traditional Christmas Eve party will be held as usual on Tuesday Tues-day evening, Dec. 24 In the ward chapel. The program will commence com-mence at 7 o'clock and arrangements arrange-ments are being made for Santa San-ta Claus to greet the boys and girls sometime during the evening. eve-ning. Everyone is Invited. The Junior M-Men basketball season began for the Paragonah boys last week under the able coaching of Ralph Edwards. On Wednesday evening the boys played the Parowan High School B team in an exciting overtime game and came out on the lonp end of a 37 to 35 score. Ileber Lund and Lanell Topham were high scorers with 10 and e'.jjh points respectively. On Thursday evening of last week a number of Paragonah boys attended a banquet in Parowan Par-owan which was given in honor of the members of the P H S football team. Those who attended attend-ed were Dean Robinson, Mike Williamson, Eugene Eoardman, Mike Lamoreaux. Kenneth Top-ham, Top-ham, Eugene Robb, John Lister, Dale Bettrldge and Duane Lam- 1 oreaux. j Mrs. Halvor Jones was the luc-, luc-, Icy winner of the sixth prize in j the Cedar Lumber and Hardware drawing held In Cedar City last ' Saturday. Her prize was a lovely Beauty Ware set. Mr. and Mrs. Revere Robinson are home again following their trip to the northern part of the state. They made the trip wih he Cluff Jolleys of Cedar City. Mr. Jolley spent some time at a Salt Lake clinic for medical ex aminatlons. The Robinsons visited In Og-den Og-den with Idella's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. George Rackham, and were overnight guests with another slater. Mrs. Dorothy Micklo of Spring City. Howard Jones made a business trip to El Centro. Calif, last week. Albert Smith of Beaver accompanied accom-panied him and in Henderson. Nev., they were Joined by Clarence Clar-ence Lamoreaux, who traveled on to California for a visit with his son Bob Lamoreaux, and his family. Chester Robinson is back at work' again this week after con-valescing con-valescing from his recent appendicitis ap-pendicitis operation. Mrs. Rosella Barton left f..T Salt Lake City early Tuesday for a visit with relatives there. Her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Orton have resided in that city for the past several months. Mr. and Mrs. James II. Anderson Ander-son and son LaMarr spent Sunday Sun-day in Beaver, visiting with the Jim Low and Lewis Limb families. Jimmy and Gallia Anderson and their two small daughters arrived in town last Friday for a short visit v.lth Jim's parents. The young couple returned to Kanab Saturday evening. Mrs. Leona ftones entertained he ladies of hr sewing club at her home on Wednesday evening eve-ning of last week. Mrs. Eneora Williamson received re-ceived word r the death of her sister, Mrs. Mary Heyborne early ear-ly this week. Hal MitcheM and Arnold Gurr of the Stake High Council wore the visiting s peakers who came from Parowan last Sunday to occupy oc-cupy the tine In Sacrament meeting. Mel has Just j returned from California where he attended three weeks special Commercial Credit school. Of the , 16 men enrolled in the school,1 Jones received the highest rating and a $50 prize award. He also received a promotion to assist-i ant manager of the Commercial! Credit branch in Twin Falls, Idaho, Ida-ho, effective Jan. 1. Just last spring Mel was promoted fromi the Cedar City office to Salt Lake City. Mrs. Jones and the children have been in Parowan for the past three weeks but returned to Salt Lake City with Howard Jones on Sunday. Mrs. Sarah D. Robinson Is con. fined to her bed for a few days suffering with complications fol-lowing fol-lowing a blood clot in her leg. |
