Show New Student Center Facilities Discusred for College Discussions were held In San Francisco this week on a $250,- 000 loan to construct a Student Center on the campus of College of Southern Utah. The board of trustees of Utah State University Universi-ty appointed Dr. Royden C. Braihwaite, director, and Hazen Cooley, secretary-treasurer f C. S. U. and Dee A. Broadbent, USU business manager, to attend the meettlngs. Type of construction, kinds of facilities, services to be rendered 1 and the servicing of the loan were discussed according to Di- ' rector Braithwaite. ' The plan for the new construction construc-tion is to build an addition on 'the north and east side of the present women's gymnasium. The new facilities would provide for student government including includ-ing a council room, president's office, yearbook, news and darkroom dark-room fjr photography, alumnl-i alumnl-i public relations and Associated Men's and Women's student offices. of-fices. Recreation facilities would include a lounge, game and billiard bil-liard rooms, music and exhibit rooms. A bookstore, post office. I snack bar and cafeteria would be placed in the center, In ad- dition to student health and counseling offices. I Present facilities for dancing and dining in the building would be enlarged. The facult commit-tee commit-tee for the student center Is headed by Richard Gillies. The original request for the student center was filed Nov. 1. "We have been given very courteous cour-teous and helpful consideration by Paul Emert and his staff," said Dr. Braithwaite. The application appli-cation was made to Community Facility Division of Housing and Home Finance Agency. Upon approval ap-proval by the San Francisco of- . fice, the application will be forwarded for-warded to Washington for final I OK. |
