Show Utah Five-County, Arizona Northlands Assns. Agree on Lake Powell Fishing Management The Five County Organization, in meeting at Kanab early this month, adopted a resolution in connection with the licensing for fishing rights on Lake Powell being formed behind the Glen Canyon Dam. , The resolution was Jointly adopted by the Arizona Northlands North-lands Association, who met with the Five County organization to consider a feasible means of administering ad-ministering the licensing problem prob-lem in the lake whose waters lie within the states of Utah and Arilzona. The resolution adopted by the two organizations reads as follows: fol-lows: RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the waters of Lake Powell lie within the states of Utah and Arizona, thus creating a bl-state reciprocity problem of fish management and licensing; and, WHEREAS, such problem must be reconciled In a manner justly just-ly satisfactorily to the people and authorities of both states; and. WHEREAS, the Five County Or ganization of Southern Utah and the Arizona Northlands Association Associa-tion in Joint session held at Kanab, Ka-nab, Utah on the 7th day of June, 1963, debated the matter in an attempt to arrive at a solution deemed fair and equitable, equit-able, to the parties concerned; and, WHEREAS, it appears to the said Five County Organization that the Arizona Northlands Association As-sociation that under the present license fee schedules of Utah and Arizona the following licensing arrar.f,ements for Lake Powell would be for the mutual benefit and satisfaction of the people of both states, le, that any holder of a Utah resident or non-resident fishing license would be permitted fish the whole of said lake, including that portion with-I with-I in the state of Arizona confined within the flow-line of the lake above Glen Canyon Dam, that the holder of an Arizona resident resi-dent or non-resident fishing license li-cense would be permitted to fish the whole of said lake, including that .portion within the state of Utah withlng the flowllne of the lake, and further Including the Arizona portion of said lake above Glen Canyon Dam, provided pro-vided the holder of an Arizona license purchased a Utah fishing stamp at a cost and in the manner man-ner provided by the Utah State Fish and Game Commission; That wherever fishing licenses are sold in the vicinity of Lake Powell, both Utah and Arizona licenses be offered for sale to the public; that the limits and restrictions on the whole of said lake correspond to the laws of the state of Utah; that any change In the present licensing fees of either state would be cause for adjustment in the Utah fishing stamp aforementioned. NOW, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED RE-SOLVED by the Five-County Organization Or-ganization and the Arizona Northlands Association, Jointly and severally, that the fish and game authorities of Utah and Arizona be requested to consider consid-er the above proposal In an amicable ami-cable solution to the present problem.
