Show Vurge Smith Named Vice President, Utah State Fair Assn. moa il ' il mi iimt'T mM 1 iHo 11 J. VURGE SMITH Cedar City Elk J. Vurge Smith, was elected and installed as third vice president of the Utah State Elks Association during the State convention of that organization or-ganization held In Ogden during dur-ing the past week. Mr. Smith served as exalted ruler of the Cedar City Elks Lodge In 1961-62 after serving in various other BPOE officers. Since that time, he has taken special interest in Elks Charity and Youth Activity programs, having served as chairman of all Elks youth activities in Cedar City for the past two years. In the election held by the women's auxiliary, current president presi-dent of the Cedar City Ladies of Elks, Mrs. Fred Leigh was elected elect-ed as state historian. At the convention banquet, C M. Ahlstron, exaltcr ruler, was presented with a certificate of award for B P O E No. 15:56 in recognition of volunteer service to veterans hospitalized at the Salt Lake Veterans Administration Administra-tion Hospital In collecting providing pro-viding game hides for converting convert-ing into tanned leather for the physical medicine and rehabilitation rehabili-tation service occupational therapy for patlenU. Upon completion of business sessions during one day of the convention, a very successful open house, sponsored by Cedar City Elks at their convention headquarters, was attended by approximately 300 Elks and their I ladles from 11 other lodges In I the state. |
