Show Summer Recreation Program Brings Variety of Activity for Young and Old All phases of the Summer Recreation Rec-reation program were in full swing this week, according to Ken Benson, director. Girls recreation activities include in-clude tennis, bicycling, swimming, swim-ming, folk, modern and tap dancing; danc-ing; baton twirling and Softball. A complete schedule is available by contacting Benson at the municipal mu-nicipal swimming pool. For boys several programs were also well under way, he stated. They include tennis for boys under 16 each Monday, Wednesday and. Friday at 9 a. m. at the courts. Boys and adults over 16 are also offered the tennis ten-nis program on the same days at 8 a. m., he noted. In addition a physical fitness program is being conducted each Thursday at 8 a. m. in connection connec-tion with the Minor league baseball base-ball program for boys eight to 12 years of age. Also started this past week is a baseball program for boys 15 and over who have graduated from the Pony League. They meet each Tuesday and Thurs-uo' Thurs-uo' ai Z. 30 . in. Ail boys are Invited to attend and participate. partici-pate. For adults the special social cueing program h?s been undertaken un-dertaken and will be held each Wednesday evening at 8 at the North Elementary School. Instruction In-struction will be offered for all types of dancing and in addition special dances throughout the year will also be planned. Social dancing for youth is also being offered each Monday evening at 8 at the North Elementary. For the summer a series of special events have also been planned. Tentative arrangements call for the following: July 11: Special equatlc show by the Tooele Swimming Club at the municipal pool. Aug. 8, 9 and 10: Girls' mountain moun-tain camp. Aug. 15, 16 and 17: a boys' summer camp. Aug. 20, 21, 23 and 24: An invitational in-vitational Softball tournament. In addition the month of August Aug-ust wUl serva as a climax to several sev-eral of the programs, with tennis ten-nis tournaments for adults, ladles lad-les and boys and girls to be staged. stag-ed. In addition a dance revue will be staged during the month, and a horseshoe tournament is also scheduled. At the municipal swimming pool free instruction is now being be-ing offered for boys and girls throughout the forenoon of each day and a senior life saving and water safety course is also being taught dally at 1 p. m. The pool is open daily to the general public pub-lic from 2 to p. m. ana special season tickets are now on sale, Wallace Osborne, manager, reminds re-minds patrons. |
