Show One in 13 Residents Of Iron County Receive SS Benefits About one out of every 13 residents res-idents of Iron County is now receiving re-ceiving a monthly social security check according to figures released re-leased by Kesler T. Powell, Pro-vo, Pro-vo, Utah social security district manager. Kesler T. Powell's report listed thv number of Iron County beneficiaries bene-ficiaries as 861 at the end of 1963. The dollar benefit amounts total more than $53,712 monthly. Retired workers are the largest single group of social security beneficiaries In the county. There are 422 in this group and their old age benefits total $32,682 monthly. The following tabic shows the number and amount of the other monthly benefits paid in Iron County, as of Dec. 31, 1963. Powell pointed out that the social security benefits are important im-portant to the community as well as to the people who receive them. "It is a fact," he said, "that almost every dollar of social so-cial security benefits coming into the county is spent each month in local businesses for food, clothing, shelter, and other essentials. In this way, the benefits bene-fits have a stabilizing effect on the local economy." The social security resident office of-fice is located at 93 North Main, in Cedar City. |
