Show READING CLUB The Summer Reading Club met on Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. J. D. Hopkins. Special guest for the afternoon was Mrs Forrest Anderson. Fifteen members mem-bers were delighted to hear Mrs. George W. Hunter relate her experiences ex-periences as she traveled In Egypt. She told of visiting the sphinx and pyramids and points of Interest along the River Nile. As they stopped at the Shepherds Shep-herds Hotel in Cairo, Mrs. Hunter Hunt-er made many trips to the Bazaars Ba-zaars of that city. There many Items were purchased. Some of these souvenirs were shown to club ladies. Seeing these works of the Egyptian people and learning of their customs made for an outstanding afternoon for those present. A very tasty luncheon lunch-eon was served by the officers. Mrs. George W. Hunter, Mrs. J. D. Hopkins and Mrs. F. II. Petty. Mrs. Selma Norman from Long Beach Is here for a couple of months while her husband, J. C. Norman Is opening up the parks for the summer months. On June 1 the En Avante Club met at the home of Mrs. Genevieve Gene-vieve Gardner. A book review by Mrs. Hunter Nelson, "Friend to Friend," by Pearl S. Buck, was en. I Joyed by the 11 club . members and guests, Mrs. Richard Leigh, Mrs. Jack Rowley and Mrs. Paul- lne Nelson. Refreshments were ' served. - , Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gillies and three children, Marilyn, Di-ann Di-ann and Richard, spent a few days in Salt Lake City where Mr. Gillies received his master's de-1 de-1 gree from the University of Utah. I From Salt Lake they went to Burley, Idaho to visit with Mr. Gillies' brother and family, Mr. and Mrs Robert Detmer before returning home. |
