Show Dr. Frank H. Petty Prominent Cedar City Dentist Dies Dr. Frank II Petty, 82, promi-1 nent Cedar City dentist, city j council member and church man, j died at his home Saturday, Mar. j 13, ut 3:00 a. m. of natural causes. caus-es. I Funeral services were conducted conduct-ed in the Cedar Eighth Ward Chapel Monday afternoon and burial was in the Cedar City Cemetery. Ce-metery. Dr. Petty received his Doctor of I Dentistry degree from the University Univer-sity of Southern California. He attended Branch Normal School, now College of Southern Utah; Brigham Young University and , L'tah State Agricultural College. He taught elementary school in I Rockvillc and Springdale. As a 'young man he ran the Cable , Mountain Saw Mill above what is now Zion National Park, lowering lower-ing the lumber to the canyon floor by cable. He has served as a city council coun-cil member In Cedar City, and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a High Priest in the Cedar Ce-dar Eighth Ward. Dr. Petty had been a member of the College of Southern Utah Fifty-Year Club for nine years, and had always been an enthusiastic enthusi-astic supporter of the College. He was one of the founders of the Southern Utah Dental Asso. On September 11, 1911, he married mar-ried Bertha Jane Cottam In the I St. George Temple, Church of j Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and they celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1D61. Survivors include his widow, three sons and three daughters. Reed C. Petty, Mrs. Scott (Leoru) George, both Van Ni'ys, Calif.; Acil B. Tetty, Salt LaKe City; Mrs. Charles H. (Beatrice) Shaw, Alexandria, Va.; Frank J. Petty, Cedar City and Mrs. Dan (Patricia) (Patri-cia) Magleby, Boise, Ida. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The funeral services were conducted con-ducted by Bishop Conrad Hatch of the Eighth Ward. Speakers were Dr. Reed W. Farnsworth and Vernee C. Frame, with remarks by bishop Hatch. Invocation was by Dr. Paul R. Lunt, benediction by Dan Magleby, and dedication of the grave by Frank J. Petty. Family prayer was by Newman C. Petty. The musical program included a number "I Need Thee Every Hour," by a male quartet composed com-posed of Rodney Brown, Alfred Olson, Howard Wood and Her-schel Her-schel Neeley; a violin solo, "In the Garden of Tomorrow" by Roy L. Halversen, and a vocal duet, "Oh, My Father" by Howard and Orma Wood. Prelude and post-lude post-lude music was by Christy Brad-shaw. |
