SWING By Nola Kupfer j Arriving Friday from their home in La Jolla, Calif., were Mr. and Mrs. Saw Bowser who enjoyed a week end visit with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ward Robb and their children. As their California Califor-nia guests departed, Mr. and Mrs. Robb receled a surprise visit from former residents, Mr. and Mrs. Von Wayman, who now reside re-side In Englewood, Colo. On Sunday Sun-day evening former friends dropped drop-ped in at the Robb home to greet the Waymans. They remained in Cedar City until Tuesday at whih time they traveled to Cas-tlegate Cas-tlegate for family visiting. Sunday evening the home of Mr. and Mrs. Shep Syrett was the scene for an ice cream and cake birthday party in honor of Vurge Smith. On hand to wish Mr. Smith many happy returns and to enjoy an evening of visiting vis-iting were the guest of honor's wife. Mary, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Haze Hunter. Mrs. Marie Murdock and Mr. and An evening of pinochle was found most pleasant by friends of Mr. and Mrs. Reed Berrett as they gathered at the Berrett home for their club meeting on Saturday Satur-day evening. Following the game of the evening at which Mr. and Mrs. Richard Leigh made high score, a refreshing dessert was served to Mr. and Mrs. Leigh, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph B. Piatt, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Fenton, Mr. and Mrs. L. Robert Gardner, Mr. and Mrs. Win Seegmiller and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Moore. Duplicate bridge was enjoyed by members of Mrs. Milton Sevy's club as they met at her home'on Thursday evening. Finding the prizes most delightful were Mrs. Thomas Evans, Mrs. Grant Seegmiller. Seeg-miller. Mrs. Corry Olson and Mis. Haze Hunter. A refreshing frappe was served by the hostess. It was a picnic and swimming party that was planned for the Sunday School class of Mrs. Phil Ogden and Mr. Larry Jones on Saturday. The group traveled to Veyo where a morning swimming i party was enjoyed by all aftorj which a typical picnic lunch was served a large group of hungry hun-gry teenagers. Returning to Cedar City last Saturday following ten days of i traveling and visiting were Mr. j and Mrs. Milton Hyatt and their family. Leaving Cedar City in time to enpoy the Indian ceremonial cere-monial dances and now wow f 1 Flagstaff In July, the family headed for San Diego, Calif. In San Diego, the zoo took top billing bill-ing especially for little Brent. A side trip to Tiajuania, Mex., was also found most interesting by the family. Santa Ana was the next stop where they were the guests of Dr. and Mrs. Ivan D. Hyatt and family. Trips t. the beach, Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm were found very delightful. de-lightful. A visit with Mr. and Mrs. Car-lyle Car-lyle D. Marsden and Children at Pomona, Calif., was next on the travel agenda. Two days of visiting vis-iting were enjoyed before the Hyatts headed homeward, a very pleasant vacation time behind them. A canyon party was the first of what Is hoped to be a series ! of planned socials for the fami-I fami-I lies on 700 West south of 400 ; South Street. As the families gathered ga-thered last Friday, horsoshws, and ball were played, while the youngsters enjoyed cowboys and Indians and hiking. With each family furnishing, a delicious luncheon was enjoyed around the campfire after which marshmal-lows marshmal-lows were roasted. Campfire fun brought the evening to a close. Mrs. George Snyder of Salt Lake City spent the week end visiting here with ) er father, brother and sister. Dr. and Mrs. F. H. Petty are enjoying a visit from Mrs. Petty s sister, Mrs. C. B. Petty of Salt Lake City. The two sisters plan to spend Thursday In St. George with their sister, Mrs. Annie Miller, Mil-ler, who will celebrate her eighty-third birthday that day. A family party is plmned to honor Mrs. Miller. House guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Stephenson during the past week were Mr. and Mrs. Daryl Bishop and two children and Mrs. Stephenson's mother, Mrs. J. During the early part of the afternoon, fishing and various forms of outdoor sports were enjoyed. An early evening dinner was served followed by campf're fun. Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Christensen have been happy to have their j daughter, Mrs. Jack Taylor and her two children, visiting with them during the past two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Christensen plan to accompany their daughter to her home in Logan on Thursday., Following a short visit with Mr. i and Mrs. Taylor the Chrlstensen will continue on Into Wyoming where they will vacation at Mrs. Chrlstensen's sister's ranch. It was a patio party that Mrs. Grant Tucker had planned for the members of the Lahoaobey club as they met on Thursday.! Root beer, homemade Ice cream and cookies were served by the hostess after which pinochle was played, with prizes being won by Cora Kectch, Evelyn Tay-lor, Tay-lor, and Laura Richsteig. Guests' for the evening were Marian Es-plin, Es-plin, Ila Magleby, Laura Rich-'steig Rich-'steig and Jean Rasmussen. ! Guest at the Leo Cahoon home last week was Mrs. Cahoon's sis-tcr-ln law, Mrs. Helen Starley of Delta. She returned to her home on Sunday. |
