Miles .VI the wards of the Cedar St ike have organized their com-nltt?es com-nltt?es and made extensive pieparations for carrying to completion com-pletion the mammoth celebration of Pioneer Day in Cedar City. Mark Webster and Ray Melling will start the day with a 21-gun salute to our pioneers. If this doesn't awaken you the old time serenade music will a little later In the morning. i At ten o'clock the big parade will get going under the direction direc-tion -of Lowell Sherratt, W. II. Manning and Robert Hansen. j Approximately 20 floats are expected ex-pected for the parade in addition to bands and other groups. Businesses Bus-inesses of the community have been extended an Invitation to participate and enter floats In the parade. Cash prizes will be awarded. Also a division of the parade will include decorated bl-l cycles and tricycles for the children. chil-dren. Free swimming tickets will be given to all entrants, Sherratt stated. The special program at 11 a. in. will be presented under the direction di-rection of our Sons of Utah Pioneers Pio-neers with Loran Hirschl In charge, In the First Ward chapel. Young folks races and games will be conducted In the park and ball games at the municipal park In the afternoon will be directed di-rected by a committee composed of Scott Urle, Rex Harris and Ray Cutler. A special banquet at noon is being planned for our old folks by the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Pio-neers. The dancing program Is being planned by Keith Workman, Mark Webster and George Rhodes. Little folks will participate partici-pate at 4 p. m. on the park and modern and square dancing In the open air following the rodeo In Cedar Canyon will provide entertainment for everybody. Square dancing will be held on the tennic courts of the Cedar City Ci-ty municipal park. Modern dancing danc-ing will be at Cobble Crest in Kanarra. Operators of the Cobble Cob-ble Crest pavilion have offered to furnish the hall and lights for the event with all proceds to be donated to the Seminary building fund. The rodeo at 6:30 p. m. which promises to be a thrilling event, is under the direction of the Iron Rangers Riding Club with Milt Jolley, Aubrey Lambeth and Waldon Isom heading the group. The Pioneer King and Queen committee Is composed of Odeen Olds, Thurmer Jacobs, Homer Jones and Elwln Seeley. Concessions for the entire day will be handled by Wendell Bun-nell, Bun-nell, James Sandberg and Sam Gentry. Each and every committee Is enthusiastically working and planning for what thy term a "Return to the grand old 24th Celebration," with all the trimmings. trim-mings. It Is the hope and desire of all these loyal workers that the good people of Iron County and neighboring counties will support sup-port this great celebration by attending. at-tending.
