Show LETTER TO THE EDITOR The legislators have been in1 action for about thirty days now, I and well I don't know about you, but it amazes me just how' little they have accomplished.! They have introduced a lot of bills, yet, I don't think that there is one that has helped any I community. Take for instance, I the reapportionment bill. I, of course, think every community should be more or less represented, represent-ed, but I think that the com-' munity should make the laws and be sure of the representatives representa-tives passing them. j The taxpayers, as you know, are spending a lot of money just for our representatives and senators sen-ators to spend their time passing pass-ing bills that really don't do any good. They have spent a lot of time on the Right to Work Bill, and yet, isn't it funny that you have practically got to go to the Supreme Court before you dare to do anything for yourself. Our Congress is always increasing in-creasing taxes instead of doing something to reduce them, but isn't it strange that the farmers and livestock people have only a very small amount of repres-tation repres-tation here In Southern Utah. Most of the representation is given giv-en to the attorneys and law-men. law-men. I guess that's the reason there is nothing done for the farmers. I feel for sure that the farmers and livestock people should have a fair trade law, in order to protect the ir market from unfair or free trade policies. I As I see it, we should do away with the anti-gambling laws, or as. I have said before, pass a law to keep people from . going into business for themselves, them-selves, because i:i my opinion, that is the greatest gamble of all. In this gamble you very seldom sel-dom hit a jackpot. In my opin-jion, opin-jion, they should also legalize slot machines and have the city control them; and In this way I know that thdr wouldn't he any city tax and probably no property tax either. I am sure also that in most Instances it wouldn't be our money that would be put in the slot-machines, but wculd be the money 'that passes through here and now lands in Las Vegas. I think (that we should have para-mutuel betting on horse races and make .things more dignified, Instead ol ;j sneaking around and betting be-hind be-hind people's backs. J Let's keep America free for all . and properly organized, and I'm sure that we would be a lot hap- pier. i Clar3nce Lamoreaux |
