Show Grant Seegmiller Appointed To City Council - ,f ; vo - v ; ' fh ; . i ... ... ,11, ,- kiri , ' GRANT SEEGMILLER Grant Seegmiller, manager of the Southern Utah Lumber and Coal Company, and an active member of the Republican party over the past several years, has been named to the Cedar City Council to fill a vacancy caused by the death of Marion F. Grames. The appointment was made at the Oct. 21 meeting of the City Council. The question has been before the council for the past month, land was officially brought up l for consideration at the first reg ular meeting of the council in October. Mr. Seegmiller, Myron F. Higbee and Wm. T. Smith had been recommended as candidates for the appointment by the Republican Re-publican Central Committee. Mr. Higbee withdrew from consideration, consider-ation, and the appointment was brought before the council by Mayor Arnold Anderson. The question of appointing a coun cilman from the portion of the city In which Mr. Grames had resided was brought up, and a number of party members were brought up for consideration, after af-ter which the question was tabled tab-led until the Oct. 21 meeting. When the appointment was again brought up the appointment appoint-ment of Mr. Seegmiller was approved. ap-proved. The new councilman Is the chairman of the Republican Central Cen-tral Committee, and is also a member of the City Planning Commission. He indicated last .week that if he was named to the citv council he would un-. doubtedly resign his position on the planning commission. Mr. Seegmiller is also serving as president of the Cedar Wildlife Wild-life Federation at the present time. |
