Show Grasshopper Control Spraying Shows Excellent Results Grasshopper control spraying of the ranges of Cedar mountain has been under way for the past week and excellent results are being obtained according to Stephen L. Brower, county agricultural agri-cultural agent. An extensive baiting program was conducted on the ranges last year with good results reported, but greater control is expected this year, Mr. Brower states, partly because the program was started earlier than last year, and partly because of the use of a very effective spray instead of bait. Three turbine-type sprayers, using a liquid spray, are being used in the program this year, and an unusually high percentage percent-age of kill is resulting. The spray is also being used on farms in various section of the county, with spraying being done from airplanes, with excellent excel-lent results reported. There has been considerable infestation reported re-ported in the Paragonah area, and it is understood that considerable con-siderable damage is being done by grasshoppers in the Escalante Valley area. |
